Toronto Restaurant Workers Relief Fund
Our aim is to provide ongoing grocery assistance to workers in Toronto in a manner that maintains dignity, supports local farmers and businesses and connects folks to a nurturing community. Our organization was born out of necessity when COVID-19 forced a total of 480,000 Ontario restaurant workers out of their jobs. Founded by Arianne Persaud and Stefhan Iwaskow, we are now a team of five former and current restaurant workers dedicated to ensuring that our peers are taken care of during this tenuous time, and through an indefinite future. While there is much to be done to ensure all are covered, our aim at Toronto Restaurant Worker Relief Fund (soon to be a registered non-profit) is to provide tangible, ongoing assistance to unemployed workers in Toronto. We strive to do so in a manner that maintains dignity, supports the local economy, and connects folks to a nurturing community.
